Symmetry Bolt is a revolutionary concept in vibration resistant self-locking fasteners. Based on a
unique external thread form that includes a right hand thread and a left hand thread, the Symmetry Bolt is designed to mate with a standard right hand thread main nut and a standard left hand lock nut. The right hand thread pitch is standard coarse while the left hand thread is fine pitch. The two nuts lock against each other with opposing forces. The effect is to maintain clamp load in high vibration applications where other self-locking fasteners come loose. The Symmetry Bolt is best suited to the most severe shock and vibration conditions.
Recommended applications include agriculture, construction, mining, and military equipment, truck and rail transportation, rock crushers, and chippers. Low frequency, high shock applications such as punch presses, automotive seat adjustments and amusement park rides are also well suited for the Symmetry Bolt.

How does the Symmetry Bolt work?
![]() |
The Symmetry Bolt has a left hand thread on the top of a right hand thread. For tightening, a main nut turns clockwise while a lock nut turns counterclockwise. |

When the main nut comes loose due to vibration, it rotates counterclockwise which is the tightening direction for the lock nut. The vibration forces the lock nut to tighten and block the main nut from further loosening. |

As vibration continues, the two nuts become one locked assembly due to strong friction. Consequently the stronger the vibration, the greater the locking force The Symmetry Bolt can create! |
