What is the Symmetry Bolt?
The Symmetry Bolt is a self-locking bolt based on a unique external thread form that includes both a right hand thread and a left hand thread, and is designed to mate with a standard right hand main nut and a standard left hand lock nut. The Symmetry Bolt is exceptionally resistant to the effects of vibration loosening.
How does the Symmetry Bolt work?
The vibration and shock forces that would usually cause a normal lock nut to come loose work to force the Symmetry Bolt lock nut to tighten and to block the Symmetry Bolt main nut from further loosening.
How do we apply the Symmetry Bolt?
Simply install and tighten the right hand main nut to an appropriate torque. Then install and tighten the left hand lock nut to a torque that is about 20-30% of the main nut torque. Always use recommended torque for the best performance.
What tools are required?
No special tools are required for the Symmetry Bolt application. You can use a regular wrench or spanner for the installation / disassembly.
Are other locking devices required for the Symmetry Bolt?
The Symmetry Bolt simply requires a main nut and a lock nut to perform.
Are special nuts required for the Symmetry Bolt?
No, the Symmetry Bolt is designed to mate with standard nuts.
Is the Symmetry Bolt reusable?
Yes, the Symmetry Bolt can be used repeatedly as long as the thread form has not deteriorated.
Is the Symmetry Bolt more expensive?
If you look at the initial purchasing cost only, the Symmetry Bolt is more expensive than normal bolt. However when the total lifetime cost are factored into the purchasing equation, there is remarkable cost reduction associated with using the Symmetry Bolt
Is the Symmetry Bolt limited to metric thread specifications?
The Symmetry Bolt is currently available in metric threads. Unified threads can be manufactured upon request.
Do you supply the Symmetry Bolt in configurations other than standard
types?
Yes, we can supply the Symmetry Bolt to fit your requirements with regard to size, material, and finish.
